Are you using toxic skincare products? And are they making you sick?
I did a recent video on Facebook on this very subject and wanted to share it with you
Transcript from the video:
Good morning, everybody! Hello, hello, hello. Liz Pevytoe here, and today I am going to talk about a subject that is near and dear to my heart. Literally. Near and dear to my heart. Okay. So we're going to talk about why it's so very important for you to be educated and be cognizant of all the products you are putting on your skin. Okay? So, why is it important that we pay attention to what we're putting on our skin? And let me tell you why. Why? Because many products, commercially produced products, contain endocrine disruptors in them. Very, very common for skincare products: lotions, makeups, body wash, shampoos, things that we put on our skin to contain these chemicals that are known and proven to be endocrine disruptors. Okay? And I just used a big word, "endocrine disruptors." So, stay with me, stay with me. I want to tell you a little bit, do a little science class here, about what are endocrine disruptors? The endocrine system is responsible, is composed of, I'm sorry, the pituitary gland, the hypothalamus, adrenal glands, thyroid, as well as the pancreas, ovaries, and testes. So, let's briefly discuss what each of those glands does. So, the pituitary and hypothalamus glands in the brain, they are, I loved this definition, it says, "The pituitary gland is the Batman of the endocrine system. It poses as the gland that secretes endorphins and such, but secretly acts as the vigilante that controls most other glands as well, via hormones, of course." Okay? So, the pituitary gland is kind of like the Batman of all your hormones. Okay? That's kind of a cool. Okay, so next. The adrenal glands are what are responsible for our stress hormones. So if you're having trouble sleeping or you're having some feelings of anxiety quite often, you might investigate adrenal fatigue. Okay? And which sit right on top of the kidneys. And the kidneys are responsible for regulating our blood pressure, and they're also responsible for helping detoxify our bodies. And our blood. Okay?
The thyroid gland, which sits right here in the neck, is responsible for our metabolism. So if you have hypothyroidism or hyperthyroidism, sometimes it's hereditary. "Hereditary." And then, but sometimes it could be chemical exposure. Absolutely. The endocrine system also includes the pancreas, which is responsible for blood sugar regulation. Ovaries and testes, we know that those are responsible for children, okay?
So if you have problems for any of these organs in your body, you might consider, seriously, you might consider toxin overload as being part of the issue, okay? So what can we do about it? Let me close out some of these windows, so I don't get confused. Okay. Before I say, "What can we do about it?" Let me just remind you of why this is important. And why I'm so very passionate about this. And it's because babies are literally being born now with toxins in their bloodstream. In 2009, the Environmental Working Group and in 2011, they did two different reports. They released two reports that they tested cor- umbilical cord blood of babies, and they were born with somewhere between 55 and I think 109, don't quote me on that, somewhere in that range. Let's just say, let's just average it and say 75 toxic chemic- known to be toxic chemicals in their umbilical cord blood. That's disgusting, alarming, and worthy of me being passionate about this, okay? How are these toxins getting into the babies' umbilical cord blood? They're getting into the babies' umbilical cord blood because mommies are putting crap on their skin. They're using, I'm going to just say, I'm not going to say the name, but they have the initials Bath & Body Works. Lotions. Sprays. Body wash. You know, all that, that have known endocrine-disrupting chemicals in them, because it smells pretty and it's getting into their umbilical cord blood.
Also, we have an epidemic of people with autoimmune disease, thyroid disease, and just lots of endocrine issues and guys! It is so important that we educate ourselves and educate our friends, everybody we know and love, that the chemicals that are in the products that you're putting on your skin could be what's making you sick. Seriously. Okay. Okay. Yes, I'm very passionate about this, because it can and will make a difference in your overall health. If you get rid of the junk that you're putting on your skin. Okay? So how can you do this? You find a reputable company, who cares about these type of things, and you buy their products. Or you put an app like Think Dirty, it's call the Think Dirty app, on your phone and every time, before you buy something, when you're at the store, you check it for it's toxicity rating. Every single product. Every shampoo. Every deodorant. Every lotion. Every body wash. Everything you're putting on you and your babies. You check. So, how many people want to check every single product when you go to the store? I'm not raising my hand for that. Nope. I don't want to do it. I don't want to have to go through every product. I would literally be at the grocery store for six hours just on personal care products. It's not what I want to do.
So, I've chosen to do replacement buying with our company. Our company does all the research. They don't put any of that crap in the products. And it just makes it easier for me. Okay? So there are options out there. Okay, so, I've ranted long enough. I have two offers for you. If you would like a copy of the Dirty Dozen, the 12 most common chemicals that are put into personal care products, that cause endocrine disruption, if you would like a copy of, a pdf, just to print off, go to oilyarmy.com, that's O-I-L-Y the word army, all one word, oilyarmy.com. Sign up for my newsletter, and you will get access to the Dirty Dozen pdf for free. Okay? Okay, guys. So, seriously, take some time and look at the products you are using. Like I said, especially if you're having endocrine symptoms. Remember what the endocrine gland is, pituitary gland, hypothalamus, thyroid, pancreas, what else? Thyroid, pancreas, ovaries, and anyway. If any of those systems are an issue for you, please consider detoxifying your personal care products, okay? Okay. Thank your for watching. Talk to you later. Bye-bye.
